Boiler repairs, Bristol
We know how worrying it is when your boiler stops working, especially with no heating or hot water in the colder months. Our Gas Safe and OFTEC registered engineers find the cause, explain it in plain English and repair it properly, supplying and fitting genuine manufacturer parts where they’re needed.
We repair gas, oil and LPG boilers, including combi, system and regular boilers from Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann, Grant and every other make we come across. There isn’t a boiler we won’t work on. No job is too big or too small, and we always aim to repair your existing boiler where that makes sense, rather than pushing a replacement.
Common boiler problems
If you notice any of these, it’s worth getting your boiler looked at before a small fault turns into a breakdown.
The most common call we get. It can be anything from a failed pump or diverter valve to a frozen condensate pipe, a thermostat or an ignition fault.
Pressure that keeps dropping usually points to a leak in the system or a failing pressure relief valve. You can re-pressurise your boiler as a stop-gap, but it needs finding.
A code on the display or a boiler that keeps locking out tells us where to start. Note the code before you call and we can often narrow the problem down straight away.
Water under or around the boiler should never be ignored. Turn the boiler off and give us a call. Here’s what can cause a boiler to leak.
Banging, gurgling, whistling or “kettling” sounds can mean trapped air, low pressure or limescale on the heat exchanger. Why boilers make noises.
Cold spots at the top usually mean air; cold at the bottom often means sludge. Try bleeding the radiator first, and call us if it keeps happening.
Is your boiler getting old and breaking down regularly? Read the signs it’s time to replace it.
Boiler breakdown
When your boiler breaks down, the quickest way to get help is to call. We’ll talk you through a few simple checks, which sometimes get things running again, and arrange an engineer as soon as we can.
[VERIFY RESPONSE TIMES — hours confirmed by AMW 14 Oct (Mon–Fri 7am–5pm, Sat 7am–12pm); copy still makes no same-day or emergency response promise until AMW confirms one]
Smell gas? Don’t use electrical switches or naked flames. Open windows, turn off the gas at the meter if you can, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
How a repair works
01
We ask what’s been happening, inspect the boiler and check the gas, flue and electrical connections are safe before anything else.
02
We read any fault codes, check the pressure and test the components one by one until we’ve pinpointed the problem.
03
We explain what’s wrong and what it will cost before any work starts. If a repair isn’t worth it, we’ll tell you honestly.
04
We fit genuine parts, test the boiler fully, including for gas leaks and flue gases, and talk you through what we did.

It depends on the fault and the parts needed, so we don’t quote a fixed price over the phone. Once our engineer has diagnosed the problem, we’ll explain what’s wrong and give you a clear price before any work starts, with no hidden costs.
Many common repairs can be completed in a single visit. If a specific part needs ordering or the fault is more involved, we’ll tell you how long it’s likely to take and keep you updated.
Yes. Our engineers are Gas Safe registered for gas and LPG boilers and OFTEC registered for oil-fired boilers, so we can help whether you’re on mains gas or off-grid.
All of them. Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann, Grant and anything else you have: there isn’t a make we turn away. As Worcester Bosch accredited partners we know their boilers particularly well, but every make is welcome.
It depends on the boiler’s age, its condition and what the repair involves. A single failed part on a younger boiler is usually worth repairing. If it’s old, inefficient or breaking down often, replacing it can save money over time. Read more in should I repair or replace my boiler?
If your boiler is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, check your warranty terms first: many manufacturers need to carry out warranty repairs themselves. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll help you work out the best route.
Don’t use electrical switches or naked flames, open doors and windows, turn off the gas at the meter if you can, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Once it’s safe, we can repair the appliance.
