Boiler types we install

Boilers for every home.

Whether you’re on mains gas, oil or LPG, and whether your home suits a combi, system or regular boiler, we’ll recommend the right fuel type and system type for your home, then fit it properly.

Gas boilers

Natural gas boilers suit homes connected to the mains gas network, providing efficient, reliable heating for most urban properties. Gas boiler installations.

Oil boilers

A strong choice for rural properties with no mains gas and room for on-site fuel storage, giving dependable heating and hot water. Oil boiler installations.

LPG boilers

LPG boilers run on propane or butane, giving flexible, efficient heating for homes off the gas grid with space for an external tank. LPG boiler installations.

Combi boilers

Heating and hot water direct from the mains, with no separate tank or cylinder. Compact, efficient and ideal for smaller homes or where space is tight, with instant hot water whenever you need it. Combi boilers.

System boilers

Designed for homes with higher hot water demand, a system boiler works with a separate hot water cylinder to give strong pressure across several taps or showers, making it ideal for medium to large households. Hot water cylinders.

Regular boilers

Also called conventional or heat-only boilers, they suit homes with a traditional setup, working with a hot water cylinder and cold-water tank to give plenty of hot water for larger properties. Get a quote.

Questions

Boiler installation questions.

These are the questions we’re asked most about boiler installations in Bristol. Can’t see yours? Call the team on 0117 990 2735, drop us a message or browse all our FAQs.

It depends on the type of boiler, the brand you choose, how complex the installation is and any additional work needed, such as moving the boiler or converting from a system to a combi. Rather than quote a figure over the phone, we’ll look at your home and give you a clear, detailed quote before anything is agreed. You can make a start with our online boiler quote.

As a general guide, a like-for-like replacement usually takes a day, moving the boiler to a new location one to two days, and a system conversion, such as system to combi, two to three days. You will be without heating and hot water for at least part of the installation, and if the job runs longer we can talk about temporary heating.

Yes, you need a registered engineer. In the UK, gas boiler installations must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer to ensure safety and compliance with building regulations. Installing a gas boiler yourself is illegal and poses significant safety risks. Our engineers are Gas Safe registered for gas and LPG boilers, and OFTEC registered for oil.

Our engineers will assess your home’s needs and recommend the best option. As a rule, combi boilers suit small to medium homes with one bathroom and need no water tank. System boilers suit medium to large homes with several bathrooms and need a hot water cylinder. Regular boilers suit older heating systems or high water use, with a tank and cylinder. See the makes and models we fit.

Boiler size is measured in kW and depends on your home’s heating and hot water demand. As a rough guide: small homes and flats with one or two bedrooms and one bathroom suit a 24–27kW combi; medium homes with three or four bedrooms a 28–35kW combi or 18–24kW system boiler; larger homes a 35–42kW combi or 24–40kW system boiler. We’ll confirm the right size at your survey.

Yes. Boiler installations in Bristol must comply with national building regulations. Since 15 June 2022, updates to Part L 2021 of the Building Regulations have raised energy performance standards, aiming to improve the efficiency of heating systems, including boilers. We make sure every installation meets the current regulations and is properly registered.

Yes. Many customers take the chance to move their boiler somewhere more convenient, such as from a kitchen to a utility room or loft. Moving a boiler can increase installation costs because of the additional pipework, flue adjustments and rerouting of gas and water lines, so we’ll talk through the options and include everything in your quote.

An annual boiler service is the most important thing, and it’s usually required to keep your manufacturer’s guarantee valid. Between services, check the pressure regularly and adjust it if needed, bleed radiators to keep heating efficient, and look out for leaks or unusual noises. Our engineers can take care of your annual boiler service every year.
