Boiler installations, Bristol

Bristol boiler installers for every fuel.

At AMW Heating we specialise in boiler installations Bristol homeowners can trust. Our Gas Safe and OFTEC registered engineers fit new gas, oil and LPG boilers, so whether your home is on the mains or relies on a tank in the garden, one local team can plan, fit and look after your heating.

A modern boiler is more efficient, more reliable and easier to control than one fitted fifteen or twenty years ago, and that can mean lower running costs and a smaller carbon footprint. The trick is choosing the right fuel and the right type of boiler for the way your household uses heating and hot water.

This page is your starting point in Bristol. Pick your fuel below for the detail, read our Bristol boiler and installation guide, or go straight to an online boiler quote.

Choose your fuel

New boilers for every Bristol home.

Most of Bristol is on mains gas, but not all of it. Start with the fuel your home uses, or the one you’re thinking of switching to, and we’ll take it from there.

Gas boiler installations

The usual choice for homes connected to the mains gas network, from city flats to family semis. See gas boiler installations in Bristol.

Oil boiler installations

For homes beyond the gas network with room for an oil tank, fitted by OFTEC registered engineers. See oil boiler installations in Bristol.

LPG boiler installations

An off-grid alternative to oil that runs from an outdoor tank or cylinders. See LPG boiler installations in Bristol.

Not sure which fuel?

If your home isn’t on the mains, or you’re weighing up a switch, we’re registered for gas, oil and LPG, so we can compare them honestly and quote for whichever suits the house.

Combi, system or regular?

The fuel is half the decision; the other half is how you get hot water. A combi boiler heats water on demand, while system and regular boilers work with a hot water cylinder.

Worcester Bosch boilers

We’re Worcester Bosch accredited, which means extended guarantees on selected models. See Worcester Bosch boilers in Bristol or the other makes and models we fit.

Want the bigger picture on fuels, system types and costs? Our main boiler installations page covers it all, and what kind of boiler should I have installed? answers the most common question we get.

Boiler beyond repair?

Need a replacement boiler in Bristol, soon?

When an old boiler finally gives up, you want a replacement fitted without a long wait and without being rushed into the wrong one. Call us and we’ll get a survey booked as soon as we can.

If you’re not sure it’s beyond saving, we’ll tell you honestly. Sometimes a boiler repair buys you another winter.

Useful to have when you call:

Smell gas? Don’t use electrical switches or naked flames. Open windows, turn off the gas at the meter if you can, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. For an LPG leak, call your LPG supplier’s emergency number.

Questions

Boiler installations Bristol: your questions.

All of it. From our base in Patchway we fit boilers across the city, from Bishopston and Clifton to Bedminster, Fishponds and Kingswood, plus Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford, Filton and the villages on the edge of Bristol. We also cover Bath, Nailsea, Clevedon, Portishead, Weston-super-Mare, Dursley and across the Severn in Newport and Chepstow.

Some homes on the edges of Bristol aren’t connected to the gas network. For those, an oil boiler or LPG boiler is the usual answer. We’ll talk you through both and quote for whichever suits the house.

As a guide, a like-for-like replacement takes about a day, moving the boiler to a new spot one to two days, and a conversion such as a system boiler to a combi two to three days. We’ll confirm the timing on your quote.

Yes. By law, a gas or LPG boiler must be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and oil boilers should be fitted by an OFTEC registered installer. Our engineers hold both registrations.

Combi boilers suit smaller homes with one bathroom and need no tank. System boilers suit bigger homes with more than one bathroom and use a hot water cylinder. Regular boilers suit older systems with a tank and cylinder. Many Bristol terraces suit a combi, while larger Victorian and Edwardian homes in areas like Redland or Cotham often do better with a system boiler. Read what kind of boiler should I have installed?

It depends on the boiler, the fuel, and how much work the installation needs, such as moving the boiler or changing the system type. We’ll give you a clear, itemised quote after a survey. Our guide to new boiler costs explains what affects the price.

Around 10 to 20 years with annual servicing. If yours is older than that or keeps breaking down, it’s worth reading should I repair or replace my boiler?

Local to you

New boilers fitted across Bristol.

Our base is in Patchway, on the northern edge of the city, so Bristol is home ground for our engineers.

Bristol’s housing is as varied as the city. There are Victorian terraces in Bedminster, Southville and Totterdown, Georgian houses and converted flats in Clifton and Hotwells, interwar semis in Horfield and Henleaze, and newer estates around Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford and Lyde Green. A small flat might want a compact combi, while a tall Clifton townhouse can need a system boiler and a cylinder to keep several bathrooms supplied.

Most of the city is on mains gas, but some homes on its rural edges are not, and those tend to run on oil or LPG. Because we’re registered for gas, oil and LPG, we can quote for whichever fuel suits the house rather than steering you to one.
