New Worcester Bosch boiler fitted in a kitchen cupboard by AMW Heating

Bristol, district by district

One team for the whole city, whichever side of it you’re on.

Bristol is our home patch, and this page is the district-by-district view of it. For everything we do across the city, start with AMW Heating’s main Bristol page; here you’ll find how that work plays out in north, south, east and west Bristol, and the postcodes we cover.

Whether you need a brand new boiler, an annual service, a repair or underfloor heating, the same qualified engineers can help. We work with leading manufacturers and fit gas, oil and LPG boilers, from a combi in a Southville terrace to a system boiler in a larger house in Westbury-on-Trym.

Around the city

Heating engineers in north, south, east and west Bristol.

Every part of Bristol has its own mix of homes, and each mix brings its own heating jobs. Here’s what we tend to see where.

North Bristol

Patchway, Filton, Stoke Gifford and Bradley Stoke are on our doorstep, with lots of newer family homes alongside inter-war and post-war houses in Horfield and Southmead. Plenty of combi swaps and new gas boilers here.

East Bristol

Fishponds, Kingswood, Hanham, Downend and Staple Hill have streets of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many still running older regular boilers with a tank in the loft. We can repair what you have or talk through upgrading.

South Bristol

Bedminster, Southville, Knowle, Brislington, Bishopsworth and Whitchurch mix Victorian terraces with larger estates. A lot of rented homes, so we do plenty of landlord gas safety checks south of the river.

West Bristol and Clifton

Clifton, Redland, Cotham, Westbury-on-Trym and Henleaze have bigger period houses and converted flats. Larger homes often suit a system boiler with a hot water cylinder rather than a combi.

Shirehampton and Avonmouth

Out towards the Severn, Shirehampton, Sea Mills and Avonmouth are part of our regular round for boiler servicing in Bristol, repairs and replacements.

Anywhere in the city

Leaks, pumps, valves and pipework are covered too. Our plumbers in Bristol are the same team, so one call sorts both the heating and the plumbing.

Heating down

Heating stopped working somewhere in Bristol?

Ring the office and tell us the area and what’s happening. We’ll go through a few quick checks with you over the phone, then book an engineer in as soon as one is free on your side of the city.

Worth checking first:

Smell gas? Don’t use electrical switches or naked flames. Open windows, turn off the gas at the meter if you can, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Why AMW

A Bristol company, not a national call centre.

We’re based in Patchway, on the city’s north fringe, and Bristol is where most of our work is.

Local knowledge

From Victorian terraces to new-build estates, we’ve seen the heating systems Bristol homes tend to have.

Fully registered

Gas Safe for gas and LPG, OFTEC for oil, and Worcester Bosch accredited.

Straight answers

If a repair makes more sense than a new boiler, we’ll say so.

Clean and careful

Dust sheets down, work areas cleared, old parts taken away.

Is it time for a new boiler?

Most boilers last somewhere between 10 and 20 years with regular servicing. Frequent breakdowns and rising repair bills are usually the sign that replacement is the better value.

Our office is in Patchway, BS34, on the north side of the city. Our engineers cover the whole of Bristol from there. For an overview of everything we do, see our Bristol heating and plumbing homepage.

Yes. As well as the city we cover towns such as Portishead, Nailsea, Clevedon and Bath. See all the areas we cover.

Often, yes, and it frees up the loft and the airing cupboard. Whether a combi suits you depends on your water pressure, how many bathrooms you have and how much hot water you use at once, so an engineer will check before recommending it.

Yes. We carry out annual gas safety checks with a CP12 certificate, service the boiler in the same visit, and offer landlord boiler cover. See boiler servicing for landlords.

Yes. Most of the city is on mains gas, but we’re OFTEC registered for oil boilers and Gas Safe registered for LPG boilers too.

Covering all of Bristol

Heating engineers across Bristol’s districts.

Patchway sits just off the M5 and M4 on the north fringe, which makes every side of the city easy to reach.

Bristol’s housing changes block by block. Georgian and Victorian villas climb the hills of Clifton and Cotham, red-brick terraces fill Bedminster, Easton and St George, and there are large post-war estates in places like Hartcliffe, Lawrence Weston and Lockleaze. The north fringe around Bradley Stoke and Stoke Gifford is mostly newer housing. That spread means we work on everything from old back boilers and gravity-fed systems to modern combis and unvented cylinders.

Almost all of the city is on mains gas, so most of our Bristol jobs are gas boilers, radiators and hot water. Where a home is off the gas network, our OFTEC and LPG qualifications cover that too.

[VERIFY WITH AMW — local copy is new: district housing mix (also the issues grid), back boilers/gravity systems, postcode range (BS1–BS16, BS30, BS32, BS34). Confirm AMW covers every place listed]
