Boiler servicing, Corsham
A boiler service checks that your boiler is working safely and efficiently while helping to prevent future breakdowns. Our team of fully qualified Gas Safe and OFTEC registered engineers completes a range of tests and checks to make sure your boiler is safe and working as efficiently as possible.
Corsham itself is largely on mains gas, but step out into the surrounding Wiltshire countryside and it’s a different story. Some villages and many isolated farmhouses and cottages aren’t connected to the gas network, so they heat with an oil boiler and a tank in the garden, or with LPG from a tank or cylinders. Each fuel needs its own checks and its own qualifications.
We provide oil boiler servicing, LPG boiler servicing and gas boiler servicing throughout Corsham and the surrounding area, so whatever your home runs on, one local team can look after it.

Off the gas grid
An oil or LPG boiler has more to it than a mains gas boiler: a tank, a supply line and a burner that needs particular care. Here’s what our engineers focus on for homes around Corsham.
We dip test the oil tank and the supply line for water. Water in the oil can carry sludge to the boiler, and in a cold snap it can freeze in the line and cut off your heating.
We clean or replace the nozzle, clean the electrodes and photocell to remove soot, and clean out the trap, so the burner lights reliably all winter.
LPG runs at a different pressure to mains gas. We check the heat input and gas pressure, reset the operating pressure where needed and inspect the seals for wear.
We check your LPG storage and the supply to the boiler. The tank itself belongs to your supplier in most cases, so we’ll tell you if anything needs reporting to them.
For homes in town, a full gas boiler service: flue gas analysis, gas and fan pressures, heat exchanger and condensate trap cleaned, and the system water tested.
Whatever the fuel, we check the flue terminal and ventilation so combustion products leave your home safely, which matters just as much in a stone cottage as in a new build.

Oil and LPG safety
An annual service is the best way to catch a problem early, but it helps to know the warning signs between visits. If your oil boiler won’t fire or keeps locking out, check you haven’t run low on oil before you call. If you notice any of the signs below, turn the boiler off and give us a call.
Oil leak? Turn off the oil supply, keep naked flames away and stop oil reaching drains if you can, then call us and the Environment Agency incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60. Smell LPG? Turn off the supply at the tank or cylinder if it’s safe, leave the property and call your LPG supplier’s emergency number. Smell mains gas? Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
How it works
01
Let us know whether your boiler runs on oil, LPG or mains gas, so we send an engineer with the right registration and parts.
02
For oil and LPG, we start outside with the tank and supply line before moving on to the boiler.
03
We remove the casing, clean the burner or heat exchanger and work through the tests for your fuel type.
04
We fire it up, check it’s running properly and explain what we found, with a quote for any repair before we do it.
Why AMW
Not every heating engineer can work on oil, LPG and mains gas. Ours are registered for all three.
Qualified to service, repair and install oil-fired boilers and their tanks.
For mains gas and LPG boilers, as the law requires.
Most boiler warranties and guarantees need an annual service to stay valid.
Many home insurance policies expect your boiler to be serviced every year.
An old single-skin tank with cracks, bulges or green staining is worth replacing before it leaks. We install bunded oil tanks and can advise on siting yours.

Yes. As well as Corsham itself, including Pickwick and Rudloe, we cover nearby villages such as Neston, Gastard, Biddestone, Box, Lacock and Colerne. If you’re not sure whether we reach you, give us a call.
Once a year, like any boiler. Oil boilers need a little more attention than gas: the nozzle, electrodes and photocell collect soot, and the tank and supply line need checking for water. Many people book in late summer or early autumn, before the heating goes on. See oil boiler servicing.
Yes. LPG is a gas, so it needs a Gas Safe registered engineer, and our engineers are qualified for it. An LPG service includes checks specific to LPG, such as the operating pressure. See LPG boiler servicing.
Yes. Corsham and its villages have plenty of older Bath stone homes, where boilers are often in a utility room, outbuilding or cellar. We just need safe access to the boiler, its flue and, for oil or LPG, the tank.
Longer than a gas service, because of the extra cleaning and the tank and line dip tests. Your engineer will let you know if anything needs more time before they carry on.
Our engineer will explain what they’ve found and give you a quote before carrying out any repair. See boiler repairs.

Local to you
A historic Wiltshire market town surrounded by villages and farmland, where the fuel your boiler runs on depends a lot on where you live.
Corsham’s High Street is lined with honey-coloured Bath stone buildings, and the row of Flemish weavers’ cottages and Corsham Court are among its best-known sights. Newer estates on the edges of the town, including around Pickwick and Rudloe, are mainly on mains gas, as are most homes in the centre.
Beyond the town, it’s a different picture. Some villages and many outlying cottages and farmhouses around Box, Biddestone and towards Lacock aren’t on the gas network, so oil and LPG are common. Our OFTEC and Gas Safe registrations mean one visit covers whatever you run on.
