Bathroom installations, Bristol
A bathroom is mostly plumbing, which is exactly what we do all day. We take out the old suite, move or renew the pipework, fit the new bath, shower, basin and toilet, and leave you with everything working as it should.
Because we’re heating engineers as well as plumbers, the parts people usually forget are covered too: a heated towel rail on the heating system, a radiator moved to make the layout work, or the hot water pressure that decides which shower you can actually have. If your pressure is the problem, we also fit unvented hot water cylinders, G3 qualified.
[PHOTO SOURCE — the three bathroom photos are ChatGPT-generated to brief 7.3 (media 1261-1263), like the oil tank photos, not AMW’s own jobs. Copy and alt text deliberately claim no authorship. Swap for AMW’s own work when they send photos]
What we fit
Whether it’s a full refit or swapping one thing out, here’s the work our team covers.
Out with the old suite, in with the new: bath, shower, basin, toilet and all the pipework behind them, finished and tested.
Adding an en-suite or turning a box room into a shower room means new supply and waste runs. We’ll tell you honestly what’s possible where you want it.
A small job that can be fiddly: waste routes and soil connections decide what will fit, and we’ll work that out before anything is ordered.
Electric showers heat only the water you use and work well where hot water or pressure is limited, because they run off the cold mains.
Mixer showers draw from your hot and cold supply, so they suit homes with a combi or an unvented cylinder and decent pressure.
Replacing a single item rather than the whole room? We fit baths, basins, toilets and taps on their own too. See our Bristol plumbers page.
Not sure your hot water will keep up with a new shower? That’s usually a question about pressure, and our hot water cylinders page explains the difference it makes.
How a bathroom job works
01
Send photos of the room as it is and a rough idea of what you’d like. We’re happy to say early on whether it’s straightforward or awkward.
02
We look at the pipework, the waste runs, your hot water and the layout, and talk through what will work and what to avoid.
03
You get a clear, itemised price covering the work we’re doing, so you know where you stand before anything is ordered.
04
We fit the bathroom, test everything, and keep the mess to the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you up front roughly how long it will take.
Why AMW
A bathroom lives or dies on the plumbing behind the tiles. That part is our day job.
Supply and waste runs are the bit you never see and the bit that causes trouble later. We take the time to get them right.
We size the shower to the hot water you actually have, or tell you what it would take to improve it.
Gas Safe registered for gas, G3 qualified for unvented cylinders, so heated towel rails, boilers and cylinders are all in scope.
We’re in Patchway, we look after customers for years afterwards, and you can get hold of us.
A new bathroom is the right moment to deal with weak pressure or a tired cylinder, because the pipework is open anyway. It is far cheaper to sort it then than to go back into a finished room.

[VERIFY SCOPE WITH AMW — this page says nothing about tiling, plastering, electrics or flooring, because we don’t know whether AMW do those themselves, bring in a trade, or expect the customer to. Confirm, plus typical lead times and whether they offer any design help]
It depends on the size of the room, the suite you choose and how much the pipework has to move. A like-for-like swap is a very different job from moving the soil pipe and starting again. We’ll look at the room and give you a clear, itemised price before anything is ordered.
It varies with the job, and anything involving new supply or waste runs takes longer than a straight swap. We’ll give you a realistic idea at the quote stage rather than a number that suits us.
Either works. Plenty of customers choose their own suite and we fit it; if you’d rather we sorted it, tell us the style and budget and we’ll come back with options.
Usually, yes, but the soil pipe is the limiting factor: moving a toilet far from the existing stack is a bigger job than moving a basin. We’ll tell you at the survey what’s simple and what isn’t.
If hot water or pressure is limited, an electric shower is usually the safer choice because it heats cold mains water on demand. With a combi or an unvented cylinder and good pressure, a mixer shower gives a stronger flow. We’ll check your system before you buy anything. More on shower installations.
Yes. A towel rail can run off your heating system, and because we’re heating engineers we can add it to the circuit properly rather than bodging it onto the nearest pipe. We can also move or replace a radiator if the new layout needs it.
Yes. We work for landlords across Bristol, including bathroom refits between tenancies alongside annual gas safety checks.
We’re based in Patchway and work across Bristol and the surrounding areas, including Bath, Clevedon, Nailsea, Portishead, Weston-super-Mare, Yate and Corsham. Not sure if we reach you? Send your postcode and we’ll tell you straight away.
